The Pied Piper of Hamelin

A long time ago, the town of Hamelin in Germany was faced with a great problem. It became full of rats. The rats were so big and fierce that they fought the dogs, killed the cats and bit the babies in the cradles. They ate up different types of foods and cut the papers and valuable docomeents into pieces. People had to face a big crisis. One day the city mayor and the administrative officers called a meeting to solve the problem. They offered a prize for the person who would save them from the disturbing rates. At that time, a pied piper agreed to take the proposal. Playing a melodious tune on his pipe the piper began to walk and all the rats followed him. At last, the piper reached a hill near a sea and the rats one after another jumped into the sea. Thus, the city was saved from the rats. Then the piper demanded his prize but the mayor did not want to pay him fully. Saying nothing the piper went away. Now he played another tune on his pipe. The tune made all the nice babies of the city follow the piper and they never came back.

STORY

Story: A Foolish Crow and a Cunning Fox

Once there was a crow. One day the crow stole a piece of meat from a butcher’s shop. Having stolen the piece of meat the crow flew and flew. After flying for a while the crow sat on the branch of a tree. At that time a cunning fox was going under the tree. Seeing the meat in the beak of the crow, the fox was tempted. He wanted to have the piece of meat. Then the fox hit upon a plan. He said to the crow, “What a beautiful crow but it can’t sing”. Hearing this, the crow was very angry. Suddenly it opened its mouth to sing and the piece of meat fell down. The fox took the meat and run away. The crow was disappointed.

COMPLETING STORY

An honest wood cutter.

There lived a wood cutter in a village. One day he was cutting wood nearby a river. Suddenly his axe fell in to the river. The wood cutter did not know how to swim or drive. So he was sitting there sadly..........

Then a wonderful thing happened. The river goddess appeared before him. She asked him why he was crying. The wood cutter told her everything. The river goddess took pity on him. She went in to the river and came back with a “golden axe”. She asked him if it was his axe. The wood cutter replied in the negative. Then she again went in to the water and returned with a silver one. This time also the wood cutter refused to take it.

Finally she brought the axe of the wood cutter. The wood cutter was delighted to get back his iron axe. The river goddess became pleased with the wood cutter and gives him the two other valuable axes as reward.

MY HOBBY

My Hobby Paragraph – 1 (100 words)

I love to paint. It is my hobby. I paint with water colours. I like to paint beautiful landscapes. When we go on holidays to different places like hill stations, desert areas, river banks or the countryside, I always take my art material with me. I like to sit and paint a scenery as I watch it. The painting then is very vivid and comes alive. I find my hobby refreshing to me. I keep all my paintings carefully. I have participated in different art exhibitions and painting competitions at school and at state level events, and won prizes too.

I would like to inform you that I am an inhabitant [বাসিন্দা] of the village Narayanpur in Ghorshal Union in the district of Jhenaidah. I would like to draw your kind attention to the fact that the main road of our village has been badly damaged by the devastating [ভয়াবহ] flood recently. Consequently [এর ফলে], water remains here and there. It is really impossible for us to go along the damaged roads. Students as well as the people of our area are the worst sufferers. People often fall down and get drenched [প্লাবিত].

I hope that your honour would be kind enough to take necessary steps to repair the damaged roads, especially the main road first so that we, all the inhabitants of Narayanpur, can move comfortably. I would really appreciate your favour regarding the issue.
